Bid Writer - Accrington

Our client, a successful manufacturing firm in Accrington are looking for an experienced Bid Writer to join their team to manage new projects and tenders. The bid writer will be responsible for ensuring that all tenders are properly evaluated, resourced, co-ordinated, prepared and submitted within specified times and to a high quality.


The successful Bid Writer must be able to develop effective, concise and compelling content and have the ability to work as a team – even whilst under pressure.


This role will involve:

  • Completing tender searches
  • Liaising with individuals across the business to develop detailed content responses
  • Providing critical review of tender response
  • Understanding the requirements of the tenders to ensure that the requirements of tenders and make recommendations as to whether this is appropriate for the business to pursue
  • Registering the company’s interest in tendering for work
  • Collating information for and complete RFI’s (Return For Information) PQQ’s (Pre-Qualification Questionnaire), ITT’s (Instructions to Tender) and RFQ’s (Request For Quotation) etc. in a timely manner and to the quality expected
  • Write and edit good quality technical and non-technical responses to bid/tender/proposal questions in a timely manner
  • Checking draft responses (written by yourself or others members of the team) to ensure that they answer the questions posed and proof-read for readability, sentence structure, formatting, grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Collating information for bids
  • Support the development of new bid styles and collateral through excellent content
  • Create and distribute quotations as required
  • Ensuring the timely submission of tenders and other proposals
  • Developing and maintaining a library of tender document templates


To be considered for this Bid Writer position you will have:

  • Demonstrable experience of providing good quality bids/proposals/tenders in a timely manner ideally within the manufacturing or construction industry
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure to deliver to high quality submissions in line with the tender submission deadlines
  • A solid understanding of the bidding procedure
  • Ability to manage yourself across the different stages of the tender process from the initial expression of interest through to the delivery of a high quality, winning tender
  • Ability to organise workloads and have excellent time management skills in order to work on multiple concurrent tenders / projects.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • English or Writing related degree
