Transport Administrator - Blackburn

Square Peg is recruiting for an experienced Logistics and Transport Administrator.
Main Duties:
  • Coordinate the customer orders daily with regard to transportation, drivers, vehicles used and communicate information to the customers
  • Ensure strong communication channels throughout the sales, production, dispatch and installations team ensuring that your customer is in the loop every step of the way regarding their deliveries
  • Effectively manage the driver hours to ensure that all drivers comply with the legislation in relation to transport and the Working Time Directive
  • Execute the daily delivery plan efficiently and flexibly, using any changes made on the day to maximise efficiency as well as maintain customer service
  • Planning and scheduling the use of third party carriers as well as your internal fleet
  • Ensure all customer orders are delivered in accordance with the company’s standard policies and practices, entering all relevant data/information onto the in-house system
  • Work with customers to plan routes and schedule delivery times, including the proactive and professional management of all internal and external Transport
  • Take responsibility for any customer issues/problems, dealing with the customer in a timely and professional manner, and reporting any major concerns to the Logistics Manager as well as ensuring that the resolution and any cost is captured and communicated via the relevant systems.
  • Build strong, long standing relations with customers to promote the company brand and our abilities to service their needs
  • Undertake additional duties as required, commensurate with the level of the job.
Key Skills/Qualifications required
  • A minimum of 2 years experience working within a transport or logistics office is essential.
  • Experience of working with a transport management system is desirable although a strong level of Excel with attention to detail is preferred
  • Excellent geographical knowledge
  • Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Strong organisational and administration skills ideal for planning schedule, journeys and loads
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to communicate with drivers and customers effectively
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in a high pressure environment
