Account Manager / Senior Merchandiser - Manchester
The position of a Retail Account Manager / Merchandiser is an integral role within a small and driven team where you will act as the interface between the supplier and the customer.
Square Peg are working with a client who has over 30 years of success within clothing and accessories, and is looking for an Account Manger / Merchandiser who will have the opportunity to look after and develop existing accounts over time.
You will successfully manage the day to day contact with key accounts and respond promptly to communications, taking appropriate actions to manage critical path.
The company has a proactive and energetic buying team and you have the opportunity to become a pivotal part of their growth, based at their head office in Manchester.
Identify new product areas and opportunities for the company.
Be heavily involved with the product development, sampling and deign briefs.
Building strong relationships with the manufacturers, suppliers, customers and agents
Attend customer meetings to discuss new and existing ranges and identify any missed opportunities
Checking and validating purchase orders for cost prices, dates and quantities
Managing the critical path and ensure that deliveries arrive on time, constantly tracking and chasing them
Work with specific high street accounts ensuring product ranges are manufactured on time and to budget
Up selling of key product lines to customers
Periodically attend visits to oversees customers, a few times a year only
Be responsible for highlighting any problems or delays efficiently
Be responsible for managing key accounts ensuring a smooth running at all times
Raise orders to off-shore agents and factories
Liaise with the Accounts Department regarding invoices and monthly movement reports
Carry out order checks / sample checking, garment sizing, raising any issues
Skills / Experience / Attributes:
You will be commercially minded, having a good understanding of what is / isn't selling and how to maximise profitability.
Effective communicator, successful at building long term/profitable relationships
Have experience within a similar role and all round knowledge of Merchandising, Critical Path with Account Management and Sales
A high level of communication and negotiating skills are required to succeed in this position
You should thrive off solving problems
Be able to work well under pressure
Good all round IT and communication skills - use of Microsoft Office, Word & Excel skills
